This beautiful and highly original 1978 Mercedes-Benz 450SL, which was exquisitely ordered in the Original Special Order Only Topaz Brown over a soft, supple, and original Chocolate Leather Interior is as good as they come. This is one of the only 450’s we have had with original paint and interior and we have sold over 100 450SLs. This particular example has been ordered with every option available; fitted with Climate Control Air Conditioning, Topaz Brown Paint, Chocolate Leather Seats, Cruise Control, Power Windows, Hardtop, Right Outside Mirror, Fully Functioning Becker Europa Stereo, Electric Antenna, and Silver Bundt Wheels.
Setting this vehicle apart from all others, aside from mileage is the wonderful. Having been lovingly cared for by just two owners from new this example has been meticulously cared for with an ‘open checkbook philosophy’. Further, this magnificent motorcar is incredibly original. The interior is as it came from the factory and everything is functioning. The interior is a time capsule and a testament to how it was kept. Further, throughout the car all of the details are present and in magnificent condition, such as the cadmium coating on engine parts (the gold colored coating on things like the power steering cap, A/C Lines, and other metal components), foam bumpers on the inside of the clam shell cover, stickers throughout, all vin plates, crisp lettering on buttons/switches, and more! All of these are incredibly unusual appointments and are missing on 99% of cars out there and having all of these things is a testament to how well cared for this car was. When our mechanic put it on the lift he said it looked it had never seen a drop of water in its life and was the nicest undercarriage he had seen in his 40 years of working on these cars. To properly honor this car as it deserves, we preventively replaced all the common complex service items such as timing chain, sub frame mounts, engine mounts, and also serviced the car thoroughly so that the next owner starts with a fresh, worry free car. This service would cost around $10,000 at a shop. Look carefully at the photos. All of the details from the aluminum trim, to the gorgeous original dash, to how the center console/glove box/dash all fit perfectly, to the uniform texture and color of the interior throughout.
